Turkish lahmacun or lahmacun is a round, thin piece of dough that is originally topped with spicy mincemeat, minced vegetables, and herbs. However, this version has a Midwestern twist to it and comes with chicken instead of beef!
Lahmacun is a popular dish in Turkey as well as the Middle East. It resembles a pizza hence it is also known as Turkish pizza, but the fact that its dough is so thin and the topping is quite spicy adds a very unique taste to it. The topping is made with high-quality fresh chicken meat along with minced vegetables such as onions, garlic, parsley, and tomatoes. Afterward, exotic spices are added and the mixture is rested for a while until it gains its full flavor. The topping is then added on top of a thin layer of wheat dough that becomes very crispy once baked. The dish is served hot with lemons, parsley, onions, and tomatoes. We are sure you will ask for more once you tried just one!
